Lifting means

What are lifting gear?

Slinging gear is the term used to describe work equipment that can be used to connect a load to a load-carrying device (for example a traverse) or to a lifting device (for example a crane). Slinging gear includes, among others:

Slinging gear must be checked and documented by an expert at least once a year.

What different types of lifting gear are there?

Slinging gear includes, for example:

Slinging gear connects the load directly to the lifting device (for example a crane).

When is which lifting gear used?

A chain is always used when the material is hot, when there are loads that do not have slippery surfaces, but also to transport sharp-edged profiles and supports. Sling chains have a high load-bearing capacity while using less material.

Wire ropes are particularly suitable for loads that have an oily, smooth or slippery surface. They are particularly light and therefore easy to handle. Hook ropes, on the other hand, serve as a connection between a crane hook and the eye of the load. Here, too, the hook chain serves as the connection between the eye, the load and the hoist.

Textile slings include lifting straps or round slings. Both lifting straps and round slings fit well to the load and are easy to handle because they are very light. They are usually made of polyester and are resistant to oils, greases and fuels. Therefore, lifting straps and round slings are particularly suitable for loads with sensitive and very slippery surfaces. These are, for example, rollers, shafts or loads with a painted surface.

A combination of chain and rope as a sling is also possible. This sling is often used for transporting profile steel.
